I hate the idea of karma.
I believe that the universe doesn’t happen to give a fuck about how I act. Other than laws of physics, which like one would expect a law pushed by the structure of reality, are impossible for me to break. I don’t think the universe would enforce its laws like a parent and punish or reward people after the fact. If reality doesn’t want me doing something, I won’t be able to. Anything I am capable of doing is fair game by the universe’s standards.
People find nihilism unsettling. I disagree with this. I find the idea of a morally governed universe unsettling. I can’t convince myself that any cosmic force or being would give me free will only to punish or reward me for how I end up using it.
